Two lucky South Dakotans will be heading to Las Vegas to play in the 2008 WSOP after this weekend. They will also compete in the first ever Free Poker Network National Championship on June 29th for another shot to win a $10,000 Main Event seat. Players from all over the Central and Eastern part of the SD. Sioux Falls will be represented the most having 23% of the field and Aberdeen will have the second most having 18% of the field. The rest of the field will be made up of players from Huron, Redfield, Mitchell, Tyndall, Pierre, Lennox, Sisseton, Tea, and Millbank.
For 77 people this will be their very first Dakota Poker League championship event. Good luck to everyone and we are very excited to see who the two people will be representing the state of South Dakota.

Some players to watch out for are Troy Woehl (NY, NY Aberdeen) who was the overall points leader in the state of South Dakota. Adam Bertsch (Moonlight Bar, Mitchell) making his second championship appearance the first time making the final table taking 6th place. Rich Vincent (NY,NY Aberdeen) making his second championship event. The last one Rich took home a Heartland Poker Tour buy-in at the Summer Poker Challenge II. Loren Isaacson (Sneakers Peanut Bar, Mitchell) making his fourth championship appearance. Loren was also the bubble boy at the last $10,000 Summer Poker Challenge. And then there is Andy Anderson (pictured right) from Sioux Falls who qualifieid for his fifth championship appearance. He has already won a $500 Heartland Poker Tour buy in.
