Players who enjoy poker nights hosted at Mable Murhpy’s and Z103 Bar & Grill in Fergus Falls have reason to be excited as one of their own, Travis Schumaker, was crowned National Champion after winning the Free Poker Network national final at the Stratosphere Casino in Las Vegas. Schumaker earned a $10,000 Heartland Poker Tour “Dream Package”, consisting of $2,000 cash, three (3) Heartland Poker Tour main event buy-ins, and airfare/hotel accommodations. Travis ran deep in the HPT Stratosphere event and cashed $7,702 for 15th place.
Troy Menke from Jackson, MN has qualified for the Vegas or Bust National Championship this summer all by showing up. Troy was the lucky winner of the December perfect attendance drawing. He played all four weeks at the Jackson golf club got rewarded by qualifying directly to the National Championship. In January we are giving a way a new lap top for the perfect attendance winner.
Tim Casey who plays out of the Taconite American Legion in Minnesota was drawn for the perfect attendance in November. He played all five weeks the Legion held poker and qualified for the regionals in the month in November. Tim won himself a new digital camera just in time for the holiday season. Lucky for Tim, there were about two dozen people that were drawn before him who did not make it each week. Make sure you make it every week to be included in the monthly drawings, up next for December is a qualification into the Vegas or Bust National Championship!
Larry Sundberg from the Sebeka Liquor Store in Sebeka, MN was drawn in the perfect attendance drawing for the month of October. Larry played in Sebeka each and every week of October and now it has paid off for him. Just by showing up Larry has won a tournament buy-in to a local charity tournament this weekend a $160 value which could net him $5,000 if he ends up winning this Sunday.
Make sure you don't miss a week at your local bar/tavern as everybody who has perfect attendance is put into the drawing. In November we are giving away a new digital camera.
Matt Neuman from the Ultimate Sports Bar in Waite Park and Jennifer Booth who qualified from Route 65 and Hunters Inn in East Bethel made the most of their Poker Pro National Championship. Both players competed in the 75 person tournament with the top 10 winning a seat into the following days Bellagio annual Five Diamon Classic Tournament. Matt was unsure if he was going to be able to make the trip, but was glad he decided to go and Jennifer was one of only two double stacks to start in the field which paid off in the end. Respectively Matt ended up getting sixth place and Jennifer got tenth place each winning the $1,000 + $80 tournament buy-in the following day. Unfortunately the next day didn't go as well, but both came away with a great experience.
Kari Davis from the Willmar area who plays at Kandi Bowl, IDK Sports Bar, and the Ultimate Sports Bar outlasted 273 players on Saturday at Running Aces Casino. Kari is the first ever female MN State Champion to win first place and took down the second largest starting field in FPN history. Altogether there were 13 new Minnesota Champions with places 1-6 winning the airfare packages and hotel stay with places 7-13 qualifying for the FPN Poker Pro National Championship on Dec 3rd.

8. Bob Miller - 50 Lakes Bar & Grill in Fifty Lakes
9. John Derung - Met Lounge in Morris
10. Jared Carsen - Route 65 Pub & Grub in East Bethel
11. Jake Stringfellow - Route 65 Pub & Grub in East Bethel
12. Bruce Ackerman - A&T Tap in Worthington
13. Dustin Musil - Blue Fox in Arden Hills
