Throughout the history of our company, Brook has generously donated to many good causes and benefits to help out players in the poker community.

This time, I regret to make an announcement that deeply affects me and my family.

In March my uncle Jimmy Bushey was diagnosed with small-cell lung cancer and is currently undergoing medical treatment.  My dad, his roommate and care-provider recently had a minor stroke (possibly related to stress and high blood pressure) leaving him unable to work as well.

In order to raise some money for expenses that have been incurred we are organizing a weekend of fun get-together's in Hewitt.  As Jimmy has been a regular league player at the Stampede in Hewitt since the league began there, Casey the owner of the bar was happy to work with the league to help sponsor some benefit poker tournaments.

SPAGHETTI FEED - Friday, June 13th from 5-8pm at the Hewitt Community Center

POKER TOURNAMENTS
- At the "Stampede Bar" in Hewitt
Friday, June 13th at 9pm following the spaghetti feed and Saturday, June 14th at 2pm and 7pm.

The poker tournament will be free-to-play and each tournament will offer $200 worth of prizes and merchandise.

We will also be giving away over $1000 worth of prizes throughout the weekend in drawings and/or raffles!

We will be accepting free-will donations throughout the weekend.

If you would like to get involved with this great cause, either by donating cash or prizes to be given away throughout the weekend or by contributing directly to the benefit fund, please contact me at the poker office at pete@freepokernetwork.com or 701-293-9400.  Any and all donations are greatly appreciated!

Thank you,

Regrettably Jim passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 29 just 6 days after my previous post.

All activities are still on as scheduled as memorial and celebration of Jim's life.  The money will be used by the family for funeral/burial cost, etc.

I want to thank the many players in the league that have contributed so generously to the benefit including:

Mike Lovelace - donated $500 from his construction company to be given away in a silent auction
Don & Sue Ellwanger - donated a registered Britney Spaniel puppy to be given away in a silent auction

Many businesses and players alike have extended prizes or contributed directly to the benefit fund and I want to thank everyone for their generosity.

Don't miss out on the feed or the poker tournaments as their will be $200 in cash and prizes given away at EACH tournament.  We also have about $1500 in prizes to give away via raffle and door prizes so come on out!

See everyone this weekend,

I just wanted to send out a big thank-you to everyone that came out and donated this weekend at the benefit.  We still have donations coming in and we expect the total to be close to $5000!

Several players made the drive down from Fargo for a fun weekend and we definitely showed them how to "Do It in Hewitt".  Brook even decided to make a motorcycle run and showed up for the Saturday festivities.

Casey and the employees of the Stampede were great hosts and there were a couple juicy cash games at a local residence until the sun came up.

Thanks to former league champ Greg Anderson for putting in the high bid on the $500 construction labor donated by league player Mike Lovelace.  Greg says he's got big plans to watch Mike pick the dandelions on Greg's lawn this summer!

And lastly thanks to all the sponsors that donated time, cash, and prizes for use this weekend, we couldn't have done it without you!

This was a great weekend that Jimmy would have really enjoyed...
