Marilyn Bodin from Fergus Falls, MN was the winner of the Bonus National TOC Tournament held this past Sunday. Marilyn took down the Z103 TOC night to qualify for her entry. She then parlayed it into a spot in the National Championship in December. The tournament structure was changed to give players more play which turned into a much longer tournament. Marilyn was able to defeat previous champion Tomi Hamilton heads up at 3:30 in the morning. She was so happy she won she then had a hard time getting to sleep before having to get up for work in the morning she said. In the end it all paid off as Marilyn will get a vacation to Las Vegas and a chance at a $10,000 first place prize.
Tina McNabb returned to the FPN National Championship Tournament after a 4 year absence after winning the Texas State Tournament. Tina who was the first Texas State Champion back in 2008 eliminated Justin Overman after flopping top pair on a preflop raise by Justin and avoiding many outs after Justin flopped mid pair and a diamond flush draw.
On Saturday October 20th 206 poker players from all across the state of Minnesota came together at Running Aces Casino to see who the new 16 Minnesota Champions would be. The size of the field at the Minnesota Championship is double what the size of the National Championship is so going deep and winning in Minnesota is quite a feat in itself. It was an exciting day all the way to the finish and we have video of the bubble when we lost two people.
League poker player Paul Wadnizak from Fargo, ND won the perfect attendance drawing. Paul had two opportunities to win as he had perfect attendance at both Borrowed Bucks on Tuesday nights and the Bison Turf on Wednesday nights. By just showing up to league nights and getting his name drawn Paul has by passed regionals and states and won himself entry into the National Championship in Las Vegas on December 10th.
Joseph Shifflett from Maxwell, Nebraska is the latest two pair or better winner from the monthly drawing. Joe scratched off a pair of jacks and nines to get qualified. Joe plays out of Walkers Steakhouse in Gothenburg, Nebraska. Joe is now qualified for the National Championship in Las Vegas at the Mirage on December 10th.
