Morgan Smillie comes up a bit short at National Championship Print E-mail
Wednesday, 16 July 2008

Morgan Smillie from Paul's Oasis the first ever Free Poker Network Tennessee champion won $1,000 travel package to compete in the National Championship.  Up for grabs was a $10,000 World Series of Poker main event seat for the winner.  It was an exclusive 25 person tournament bringing players to Las Vegas at the Orleans casino.

The FPN crew had a great time meeting Morgan and his wife as they were very fun to talk to.  Morgan also shared a funny story about when he received the $1,000 check to come to Vegas.  Some of his friends were skeptical, but he made sure they saw it to prove them wrong!!!

Morgan went pretty deep in the National Championship making it about half way through eventually getting knocked out in 16th place.  It probably won’t be too long before we see Morgan again as he just took down his bar (Paul’s Oasis) in the first session of the Vegas Invasion promotion guaranteeing his spot for the playoffs.

The eventual winner of the National Championship was Clay Lipke from Breezy Point in Minnesota.
