Doug qualified for the championship by playing at the Sportsmen's Rendezvous in Tyndal. The SD state championship was held at Old Meyers Pub in Huron. Magee finished off Tony Binger from Redfield, who placed runner up. With 20 players left in the tournament, Magee was all but out the door,
holding only 5,500 in chips compared with the average chip stack of
45,000 at the time. He then went on an incredible run of luck,
outdrawing several opponents with the river card to make it to the
final table.
The cruise sets sail from April 12-19th.
