On Monday February 1st, eight qualifiers from Hightopps Backstage Grille took their shot at becoming the next Maryland State Champion. In the end Derek Williams who is no stranger to championship events or winning championship events for that matter came out victorious. Derek won his way to Las Vegas just less then a year ago in the Party at the Palms promotion.
By winning Derek won
himself airfare and hotel on the Vegas strip and while in Las Vegas, Derek will join 24 other players from around the country to compete in
the Free Poker Network National Championship at Caesar's Palace at the
end of April. In all $12,000 worth of buy-ins will be distributed to
the 25 players with first place being a $5,000 World Series of Poker
circuit event at Caesar's Palace. We look forward to seeing and partying with Derek again!
On Thursday, September 3rd, players from Maryland came together at
Jad's Caddyshack to playoff to see who the next Maryland champion would
be. Last promotion's Party at the Palms winner Derek Williams gave it a good run finishing in third almost winning back to back, but in the end the new Maryland champion would be James Lundquist (pictured) from Hightopps Backstage Grille. Congratulations to James and we look forward to seeing you at the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas!
Derek Williams, the Maryland qualifier from Hightopps, took his shot at a $1,500 package at the Party at the Palms National Championship on June 28th. The championship was played on the 25th floor at the Palms Casino in the Kingpin and Erotic suites. The night before Hugh Hefner had rented out the entire floor and held a private pajama party. Twelve hours before the FPN National Championship had begun there were playboy bunnies running around in the exact same suites!!!
Unfortunately for Derek he came up a little short and wasn't able to win one of the packages, but that doesn't mean he didn't have fun. Derek partied with the other players and crew into the wee hours of the morning as we watched the sun come up. Derek's name was drawn for playing one of the "pro's" heads up and he went up against Steve Pris, a league employee, and in a see-saw battle Derek was able to come out victorious for a cool $100.
Ed Flynn from Jad's Caddyshack, Jeff Busick from Hightopps, and Don White from Jad's Caddyshack are getting ready to play for their
chance to win a 7-day cruise package for two. All three players made it
through the Maryland regional and will compete against 16 other players
from around the nation for an exclusive 19 person tournament with the
winner receiving the cruise package. While on-board the cruise there
will be a 10 person tournament with the winner receiving a $10,000
Grand Prize package to Las Vegas with multiple tournament buy-ins
featuring two World Series of Poker events.
The online tournament that Ed, Jeff, and Don will compete in, will be
held on Sunday February 22nd at 7:00 EST. Any player that would like
to watch can download our software from our homepage to watch the
tournament and root the players on.
The championship for the Ship It! promotion for Maryland poker players will be held on Saturday January 31st at 5:00 pm. It will be held at Jad's Caddyshack in Essex. We wish all the players the best of luck
