4:40 - Second break Erin is hanging tough.  She has 11.5K and is above chip average.

3:51 - Mitch Schock has just busted.  He got moved twice in a span of 10 minutes, got pocket Aces and lost to quad four's.  Tough way to go especially after being shuffled around the room.  Chris Hanson (HPT announcer) has also just busted.

3:00 - We just lost another player.  Gina Bushey has just busted.  She was short stacked and got them in against a over aggressive player who was on tilt and he was in the big blind.  Unfortunately this time the player from Germany was holding the best starting hand Aces and Gina ran into them.

2:50 - Ben Blecker has just busted.  Ben flopped trips with A-4 in the big blind with a A-A-X board.  Ben bet it pretty hard and got called by a player holding 10-10.  On the turn the other player hit his 10 and smooth called the turn.  On the river the other player re-raised Ben all-in for his last few chips.  Ben was pot committed and had to hope for the best, unfortunately it wasn't to be.

2:10 - First break - Erin Schussler 4,300, Mitch Schock 4,000, Gina Bushey 2,450, and Ben Blecker 3,400.

1:15pm - Early pro sightings in this tourney include: JC Tran, Kathy Liebert, Kenna James, Hevad Khan, Katja Thater, Blair & Grant Hinkle, Jonathon Little, Michael Binger, Men "The Master" Nguyen, and Mark Seif.  With the tourney being a sellout near 3,000 players, 1st place is expected to be about $700k!

1:05pm - Level 1 complete, blinds up to 50/100.  Doug Magee took a big hit with pocket 5's 20 minutes ago and just busted in a coin flip when his KQ did not improve vs pocket 8's.  Luckily he still has $3500 worth of tournaments buyins remaining including Event #54 on Monday and a shot at another event as he is qualified for the Party at the Palms championship tomorrow night.

Gina Bushey is down a bit and Ben Blecker is sitting between 2k-3k.  Mitch at 3500.  Erin is in the middle of a section and we have not been able to get a count yet.  Chris Hanson around 5k.

Thursday, June 11th

UPDATE: Troy busted out short of the money on Day 1.

Troy Sjostrand
(pictured left) from Eden Prairie, MN is trying his luck today in WSOP Event #11.  This is a $2k No Limit buy-in event and Troy is participating thanks to his win in last year's Vegas Invasion promotion.

Troy is the 2nd of 30 overall players we are putting into the 2009 WSOP after Thomas Eaglestaff played in Events #1 and #4 but came up just short of the money...

Thursday, June 4th
Mitch Schock squeeks into the money AGAIN by placing 141st in Event #9 for $2668!  Way to go Mitch!  He has now cashed in 2 of 3 events that he has entered.

10:00pm - Troy ends up moving all-in after picking up Jacks but runs into Aces and can't beat the 4-1 odds and is eliminated from the tournament with 300-400 players remaining.  The top 171 of 1,646 players will end up getting paid so Troy made a nice run as well but ended up just short.

6:40pm  - Dinner Break -
Heading to dinner and he is back to where he was at the 1st break with 4k.  His AK ran into Aces after he flopped a King and took a big hit there.  All his pairs kept running into over pairs and he's hoping that dinner will change his luck around a bit.

4:20pm - Second Break
- Troy had a great couple levels as he was able to increase his stack from 4 to 15k!  He picked up AJ in 3 of 4 hands and hit an ace on every one of them.  He also picked up AA in the small blind and nearly tripled up with the pot he won on those.

2:00pm - First Break - Troy made the first break and is down slightly to 4k from the 6k that you start with.  No big names at his table but Phil Hellmuth is about 3 tables down from him.

Noon -
Troy Sjostrand from Eden Prairie, MN is taking his seat at Event #11 in the $2000 No Limit event.  Troy won his seat at last year's Vegas Invasion promotion and looks to put the Free Poker Network on the board with a nice cash!  Good luck Troy!!!

Saturday, May 30th
League rep Mitch Schock squeeks into the money by placing 88th in Event #3 for $2781!  Way to go Mitch!

10:06 pm - Staff makes a bad-timed steal attempt with AJ of hearts and runs into AK and QQ's!  He can't get lucky and is out with about 560 left of almost 3000 players.  If he had survived for about another hour or 200 players he would have made Day 2 and almost been in the money!  So close....

6:54 pm - 90 Minute Dinner Break - At 4200 chips with blinds of 200-400 after break.  774 of 2994 left and losing players at avg rate of 5.3/minute!

4:40 pm - 2nd break. Staff won 2 all-ins  to get back to 2400 but is now back to 1025 and blinds are now 100-200 with a 25 ante.

3:26 pm - Staff reports that he just got crippled by Aces.

2:15 pm -
Staff has seen his stack cut in half down to 1525 at the first break.  He says players are playing like a freeroll and the action is loose and aggressive.

Noon
- Staff takes his seat at Event #4 on Day 1A with the largest non Main Event field in history!  Players begin with 3k in chips and 25-25 blinds.  Good luck!

Friday, May 29th
11 pm - League rep Mitch Schock makes Day 2 of Event #3, Omaha Hi-Lo with a $1500 buyin.

Wednesday, May 27th
4:35 pm - Staff was able to make it about halfway through the 866 person field down to about 400 people.  Staff had been moving all-in frequently and he finally got a call when he held Q-Q and was in great shape facing K-Q, but of course the other player spiked a king knocking Staff out.  Staff will still have another opportunity as he is playing in Event #4 (Stimulus Special) with a $1,000 entry fee on Saturday, May 30th.

3:04 pm - Staff has movied all-in about 6 or 7 times and has either taken down the blinds or chopped as he has hovered between 600 and 1500 for the past few hours.

1:25 pm - Staff runs into a bit of bad luck to start the day.  Early on in the tournament Staff limped with aces hoping to trap and gets his wish as another player raised and Staff re-raised all-in with his AA.  The flop came 3-4-5 and Staff was way ahead versus his opponent's 7-7 but the turn brought a six, leaving him with only the two remaining 7's to chop.  Amazingly a 7 comes on the river and Staff is so happy to split he doesn't realize that the dealer didn't pull in the other guy's chips and Staff ended up chopping his all in, the blinds, and the other guys first raise, costing Staff about 800 in chips.

12pm Noon - The World Series of Poker has officially begun and Thomas Eaglestaff aka Staff is starting off on Table 50, Seat #3 in Event #1.  Good luck Staff!!!
