This season's national championship will be held October 25th-29th at the Orleans Casino & Hotel in Las Vegas...

Mark your calendars, folks, because this event will be like no other in the history of bar poker!

A few months ago, Mike Matsinger from World Tavern Poker and I met in Las Vegas and discussed how we can bring our 2 great poker communities together for a poker event like no other.  And this fall, we are bringing together the World Tavern Poker Open AND Free Poker Network's Vegas Invasion.   

In addition to each league's separate national championship tournaments, there will also be lots of private tournaments and awesome parties as well. 

The best part, anyone and everyone is welcome to come, so even if you don't qualify for the Vegas Invasion Main Event you can still come and take part in the private tournaments and parties!

Since 2005, World Tavern Poker has hosted their championship events between Atlantic City and Las Vegas where literally hundreds of bar poker players from around the country get together for 4 days of great poker, great parties and great people!  These events are not your typical poker tournaments; they are filled with competitive games, hilarious parties and championship events.  THIS IS THE PERFECT EXCUSE TO HEAD OUT TO LAS VEGAS! 

This year’s event will be bigger and better than ever before. We are anticipating over 500 bar poker players from 30 states for one incredible time.

The Travel

The Poker

There will be 12 private championship tournaments ranging from $50-$200 buy ins!  That’s an estimated $125,000 in prize pools over the course of the event! How much of that $ will you be taking home?  

So what type of tournaments?  Here is just an example of some of the Championship Events

      Speed Poker Championship – You only have 5 seconds to act in this high paced game!

     Women’s No Limit Championship – Ladies only!

      Omaha Championship – Looking for a change from Hold ‘Em, here’s your chance to prove your skills.

     Gladiator Tournament – Every player will receive an envelope with prizes ranging from “Sorry, play again” to $300 in cash! Over $1,000 in bonus prizes will be given away during this event. Plus other SWAG, buy ins to tournaments and other great prizes. Prepare to have the Romans coming after you!

     Tag Team Poker – Our most popular tournament where you and your partner will constantly exchange seats at the table! 

     No Limit Hold ‘Em – And of course plenty of regular hold ‘em championship events.

This year will feature the first ever inter-league Championship event with an additional $2,500 WSOP package added on for the winner!  Represent your bar league well!  
National Championships

The Free Poker Network and World Tavern Poker will be holding their national championships in separate tournaments.  Reminder: there will be 8 $2,500 World Poker Tour packages up for grabs in the Vegas Invasion Main Event!  If you’ve qualified, you absolutely won’t want to miss it!
 

The Parties

These aren’t your typical convention parties; these are over the edge hilarious parties where you will just ask yourself “who the heck came up with this stuff”.  Check out some of the videos to see what you’d be missing. 

This year’s theme is Let The Games Begin where we start out in Rome with a full blown TOGA , TOGA, TOGA PARTY!  Come dressed in your best Toga Outfit and you could win some great prizes!

We then head to the Halloween Closing Ceremonies where it’s a full blown Halloween party with a “sports” theme.  Come dressed as your favorite sport, athlete, announcer, coach, etc!  Even more prizes for the best costumes.

Q: Can Anyone Go?
A: Absolutely!

Q: When is the Vegas Invasion Main Event/National Championship? What can I win?
A: The Vegas Invasion Main Event will be held Monday, October 27th.  However, the Invasion will begin the 25th and go through the 29th at the Orleans Casino in Las Vegas. Approximately 230 players nationwide will qualify for the Main Event where you will have a shot to win one of eight (8) $2,500 WPT packages. 

Q: What is the difference between a party badge ($165) and the poker badge ($85)?
A: The party badge includes access to all the private poker tournaments AND parties.  The 2 theme parties include drinks and dinner.  At the parties there will be various prizes given away including a chance to play Mike M from World Tavern Poker heads-up for $1,000.  The poker badge is for access to the private cash tournaments ONLY.    These private tournaments will have buy-ins ranging from $60 to $220.  BOTH BADGES INCLUDE A “SWAG BAG” WITH FPN MERCHANDISE.

Q: Can I purchase these badges in Las Vegas?
A: If you are planning on coming it would be highly recommended to purchase these badges ahead of time.  There is NO guarantee that there will be any left to sell in Vegas.

Q: I qualified for the Nationals Championship, do I still have to purchase a “badge”?
A: You do not have to purchase a badge, but you will only be allowed to participate in our National Championship tournament and buy-in to the "Inter-League Championship". There are many other fun activities going on that you can only participate in if you have a badge.

Q: Where do I go to purchase a badge?

Q: I won my bar which averaged 40 or more people, what does that exactly mean?
A: If you finished 1st and were a “Direct Qualifier” (highlighted in gold), then you have qualified for the Vegas Invasion Main Event (National Championship) in Las Vegas. You are responsible for travel expenses unless you win them at the Regional Championship.

Q: If I have already qualified for the National Championship, can I play in the Regional Championship?
A: YES.  We highly encourage you to play in the Regional to try to win travel expenses.

Q: What if I win two invites (qualify twice for National Championship)?
A: The invites are non-transferable.  You have basically knocked a player out of the National Championship.

Q: If I qualified at two different bars which were both running Vegas Invasion Session 1, do I get double chips stack at the Regional Championship?
A: No, you must qualify in both Vegas Invasion Session 1 and 2 to start with double chip stack.

Q: To get the double chip stack at the Regional Championship, do I have to qualify in Session 1 and 2 at the same bar?
A: No, you can get double chip stack by qualifying in both sessions at any bar within the same region.

Q: Can anyone start with more than double chip stack, for example if I qualify twice in the first session at two bars and once in the second session?
A: No, the most anyone can start with is double the chip stack.  If someone would qualify twice in the same session regular “bubble” person rules apply from previous promotions.

Q: When are the Regional Championships? What can I win?
A: Regions will be broken down to approx 10 bars. Some regions will have less than that. The regional contests will be held in the second half of August or early September.  Regional Champions will earn $500 towards travel expenses to Las Vegas for the National Championship and a "Party Badge" (Where allowed by law). The top 10% at each regional will qualify for the Vegas Invasion Main Event.

Q: Is there a state championship?
A: No, just regionals (approx groups of 10 bars) then nationals. 

Q: If I don’t qualify for the Vegas Invasion Main Event can I still go?
A: Absolutely!  This is what will make the championship experience special or everyone. You can still participate in the parties and private cash tournaments  as long as you have a badge.  Get a group of friends together as it will be an absolute blast with up to 600 poker players expected to attend!

Q: If I didn’t qualify for the National Championship and I buy one of the badges can I play in the National Championship?
A: NO.  Our National Championship is for qualifiers only.  But you can still have a great time participating in the many different tournaments and parties that are offered.

Q: Do I have to stay at the Orleans?
A: You are not required to stay there.  To book call 1-800-675-3267.  Please note the Orleans policies: A $5/night resort charge is automatically added which includes use of the Fitness Center, unlimited local calls and high-speed internet access.  A $15/night fee for a 3rd or 4th guest in the room applies. 

Q: How is the $2,500 Bonus WSOP seat being given away?
A:  After the closing Halloween bash, there will be a $50+$10 “Inter-League Challenge” at Midnight on Tuesday.  A $2,500 2009 WSOP package will be ADDED to the prize pool.  This event is open to all main event qualifiers and ANYONE with a badge.
